GRIMSTONE TCG

What is Grimstone TCG?

Grimstone TCG is a horror-based card game where you play as a survivor trying to stay alive against an onslaught of your opponent’s creatures, monsters, demons, etc. known as ‘Entities’.

The main mechanic of the game revolves around making blood sacrifices in order to recruit your own creatures to fight on your side.

Currently Grimstone TCG is a proof of concept and a work in progress, but I hope to expand upon it in the future!

Survivors

You play down one pre-determined Survivor card at the beginning of the game, as well as a number of Blood Tokens attached to them.

Your Survivor card represents your ‘life’ during the game and if your Survivor reaches 0 Health, it’s game over!

You’re not defenseless though! If you summon an Entity onto the field, your opponent can’t attack you directly and must first kill said Entities to attack your Survivor. Each survivor may also have their own set of skills and attacks that they can use during gameplay.

Blood Tokens

Blood Tokens are helpful buffing cards that act as sacrifices in order to summon Entities. You always have a specific set number of Blood Tokens at the beginning of the game attached to your Survivor.

When an Entity is summoned to the field from your hand, you attach the required number of Blood Token cards to that Entity. Blood Tokens can give your Entities helpful buffs, but be warned though; using them to summon an Entity comes at the cost of weakening your Survivor.

Affinities

Affinities Act as your ‘stats’ within the game. These include:
Speed- determines the attack order of your Entities.
Health/Counter - Health determines how much damage an Entity can take before they die. Counter is the amount of damage an Entity does to an opposing Entity when they’re attacked.
Strength - If an opposing Entity has a weakness to Strength greater than 0, this stat is added to the damage.
Sight - If an opposing Entity has a weakness to Sight greater than 0, this stat is added to the damage.
Occultism - If an opposing Entity has a weakness to Occultism greater than 0, this stat is added to the damage.
Additionally, there’s also a ‘Generic’ affinity, which may represent any of the other affinities for attacks and skills.

Phylacteries

Phylacteries act as the primary source of ‘power’ for your Entities. You may place them into your pool of Phylacteries, then at any time during your turn, you may move any number of Phylacteries from your pool to your Entities. Entities require a certain number of Phylacteries in order to use certain attacks skills, and can be turned to the side to determine if they have been ‘used’ for that turn.

After your opponent’s turn ends, and yours begins, you move all Phylacteries from your Entities back to your pool.

Entities

Entities are the creatures, monsters, horrors of Grimstone. They act as both your protection and your opposition. They can be helpful for keeping your survivor safe, but they come at the cost of sacrificing Blood Tokens. However, you can power up even weaker Entities if you use your Blood Tokens and Phylacteries wisely.
